If you can win his time
You can win his heart.

After truth
Comes the reality
After reality – the pain
After the pain comes the heartache
And you know nothing will be the same
After the heartache
Comes the denial
After denial – the blame
After the blame comes the pity
And you see yourself in all your shame
After the pity
Comes the cynic
After the cynic – the darkness stays
After the darkness sets for awhile
You realize your stuck in one place
After the darkness
They say there is light
After the light – the reason why
After the reasons it will all makes sense
But some of us never see that light
After I got lost in the reality
After I got stuck in the pain
I ended up staying too long in the darkness
I allowed my happiness to fade
After the cynic took over
After the pity swallowed my pride
Every day became just another day
Left to wonder all the reasons why.
You can’t give your heart out
When it belongs to someone else.
There’s something worse than heartache
She has unfortunately learned
It aches in ways she can’t explain
Staying for years and years
Heartache became manageable
Knowing the cure was her profession
She knew what to do and for how long
Finding love had been her only obsession
But there’s something worse than heartache
Something cutting her deeper than her soul
This deathly and undeniable pain
Is completely unmanageable
It doesn’t just break your heart
It doesn’t only make you feel rejected
It takes over your entire body
You feel like you’re infected
There’s something worse than heartache
It crushes your dreams and makes you a cynic
It turns love into a phantom
And you realize hope doesn’t exist
Love is based on someone else
Someone who doesn’t want what you’re giving
But this takes away your confidence
Makes you question each day you’re living
There’s something worse than heartache
Worse than rejection, loss or resentment
She faced it every day of her life
She was murdered by disappointment.
She knew this would happen
She’d think of you
Even when she promised
Not to
She knew she couldn’t
But she did
Because moments with you
Are worth it
She knew it was bad
No matter how good
She couldn’t not love you
Though she should
She knew it would end
Like it always does
But she’s giving you another try
It must be love.
