Finding The Woman I'm Meant To Be

Boy Who Cried Wolf

You can’t say you’re sorry
For breaking my heart
Do it all over –
Tear me apart
Changed behavior
Is the best apology
You say you’re sorry
Then your actions repeat
You don’t see it but
It’s blinding me
I’m the one who feels it
You chuck it up as comedy
You can’t say you’re sorry
But do the same thing again
Keep it up baby
The next sorry’s our end.

My sheets still smell like him

That’s why I lay with you

And every time you bring us up

I don’t want you to

You want me to be the one

To make all your dreams come true

But I don’t even know myself

So how the hell can you?

I was always the one

Wanting ‘meant to be’

I don’t know what I want

And it keeps finding me

They’ve been everything I wanted

Everything I’ve dreamed

Then they tell me I’m the one

And I close down completely

So here you are like him

Falling in love with me

You’re absolutely perfect

Saying all the right things

And here I am again

Pushing love away

I don’t want to let you down

I wish that you could stay

But I’m just not ready

I now fear commitment

And everything I used to want

Is everything I resent.

One Step At A Time

If you can win his time
You can win his heart.

All The Little Things

Good morning texts
Goodnight kisses
Sunday morning breakfast
“Thinking of you” messages

Thursday night spaghetti
Friday night pizza and movies
Laughter and playfulness
Trust and honesty

The gym after work
Cuddling on the couch
All the little things
That matter to her most

She didn’t ask for much
She didn’t need fancy dinners
She only wanted a man
Who wanted to be with her

A man who would make plans
Just to give her a kiss
Someone who looked forward to
Any time he could get

She didn’t ask for much
But she knows her worth
And any man to call her his
Knows what she deserves.

Your Turn

Let’s play a game called, “Let’s not play”
All you gotta do is say what you mean –
mean what you say
Because real and genuine
it doesn’t exist now ‘a days
So I’m calling “Bullshit” as I walk away.
